AI Image Creation for All

Travis Mettler — Sun, 27 Sep 2026 17:53:26 +0000

AI Image creation is now super easy for everyone to do! There are many paid services that allow users to create images using AI, however creating images is now easier than ever & surprising to me is that Microsoft edge is doing a really good job. I am by nature a Google Chrome guy but in this latest release Microsoft’s Edge browser they have made image creation a seamless part of the features. When you open Edge simply type “create an image of…” into the address bar & check out the cool things your imagination & AI can create ( I typed “create an image of a pink dog in a chicken costume eating an ice cream cone on an asteroid flying through a colorful universe”). Be very descriptive to get images that are exactly what you want & most of all have fun!

Don’t want AI; DuckDuckGo may be for you?

Travis Mettler — Tue, 22 Sep 2026 23:21:01 +0000

DuckDuckGo is taking an interesting stance in the war on AI. Instead of embracing the new technology the search engine has decided to ignore it. I know here at QuickTech we are embracing the newest technologies; however, I do respect that not all of us are onboard. So, if you are like one of my many clients who are worried about the encroachment of AI into everything, now there is a search solution for you. It seems DuckDuckGo is hardening its stances on privacy & excluding AI.

Best Free Solitaire & Other Games for Windows PC’s

Travis Mettler — Sat, 19 Sep 2026 01:14:29 +0000

Travis here, checking out a super basic topic, but for years my clients have been asking me about Solitaire from the Windows 7 days even. What happened to Solitaire? or What happened to FreeCell? It seems that Microsoft still has these games (it does have ads now) available, so I had not investigated it yet. However, my clients don’t like it & after I tried it is a bit much trying to make it an Xbox game, so they have been busy downloading many free games from the Microsoft Store & still are unhappy. I have found a couple links to some old school Solitaire games that aren’t too engrossed with ads (may still have some small ones) or stray too far from the classic games that you enjoy! This post is dedicated to my Dad who has never stopped bugging me!

Stressed Out? Find Peace in Nature :)

Kristin Mettler — Wed, 11 Mar 2026 00:27:14 +0000

It is Travis here in the Tech Blog, we are going to start a new series that I think will be fun! It is going to be all about the apps I have come across while I’m working. Most will be free, some will not (I will keep those to a minimum). I work with so many types of people, the hyper focused & driven professionals to my first clients when I started the company as a kid teaching at the local senior center (Shout Out San Marcos, CA!) Ok so when am I going to help with stressed out?! This app is one of my favorites & it has been around for a long time. It is called AllTrails. It is great when everything is piling up & you just need to get away from the noise & into nature, but you don’t know where to go, or you are tired of the same old park that is crowded and noisy. This app has helped me find so many cool trails to hike / walk / run that I had no idea existed that were very close by or if I was up for an adventure a bit further away. All while giving me maps of the trail to help me not get lost while I was out there. One of the greatest things is I have friends, family & even my own kids that range widely in ability, I can find something that my 2-year-old granddaughter & my 80-year-old father can enjoy & on the other end of the spectrum my wife & I could find something more challenging to enjoy. There is everything in between! So, if you are cooped up & stressed out & just need to get out for some free decompression time this app has got all the places for you!

Should I Care About File Encryption

Travis Mettler — Fri, 11 Apr 2025 22:00:35 +0000

So, I promised a follow-up blog about BitLocker & I will talk about that, however I would like to broaden the topic to file encryption. I’m not sure if most of you realize but even if you have your computer password protected if you lose your computer or recycle your computer without having the data properly wiped anyone can just pop out the hard drive and use a simple tool to access all your data. It is very important to have some sort of file encryption to protect your data. A lot of people think of data as just the files they save, but it is much, much more. All those times you hit save password, all those times you typed something in (keystrokes), all of that data in your photos of where you have been (meta data), and all those times you used mapping websites to find directions. All of that information is there just ready for the picking. I would like to follow up with some suggestions for you tools that are free & some that might be for some of you more advanced users. Be sure & check back & I will have that for you in the next post!

Navigating Encryption on Windows 11

Lenovo Yoga & BitLocker

Recently while working with a client I found an interesting twist regarding encryption specifically with Lenovo Yoga laptops. I have been aware of BitLocker encryption for years & enjoyed the ability to choose when to use it for sensitive data. The link below describes specifically how the Lenovo Yoga models have a feature which automatically activates this encryption (not something obviously told to you). It also explains how to unlock your drive. As stated before this is specifically tailored to Lenovo Yoga laptops but my suspicion is there are other models out there doing this & it probably will become more common as Microsoft advances security. So the big note here is BitLocker is something to be familiar with & learn more about. I will be posting an expanded post on BitLocker very soon so stay tuned!
